Conflation. Secure SHell is only as insecure as you make it. Often
recommended for non-private network segments, with varying degrees of
authentication.

At best, you'd get the very same speed, if you're really lucky, _if_ the
same software/protocols are used. However, since this would constitute a
private network segment, security would not be a direct concern, and
insecure protocols with arguably less overhead may be tried.

Numbers 3 and 4 are essentially identical to each other when you consider
that the motherboard on "tbb" has two eSATA connectors.
