Hi all,
Below is an announcement from the CE Linux Forum about a
local embedded Linux conference. I'm one of the primary
organizers for the conference, and thought it would be good
to let SVLUGers know about it.
The conference is open to the public, and is $50 for hobbyists
and $300 for professionals. If you get reimbursed from your
company to come, you should register as a professional.
While this is focused on embedded, this is a major
Linux-specific conference, and there will be lots of
interesting content for developers who are working in
this field.
I know that $50 is a bit pricey if you're a hobbyist, but
that covers three days, and doesn't even cover the cost of
materials, food and activities for an individual for the event.
Anyway, hopefully this is of interest to people. Please feel free
to forward this to embedded developers within your companies.

The announcement follows:
-----------------
The CE Linux Forum is very happy to announce that the program for
Embedded Linux Conference 2008 is now available!
The full program is available at the conference web site at:
http://www.embeddedlinuxconference.com/
The day-to-day program is on the "Program" page on that site,
and the session list and detailed session descriptions are on
the "Session" page.
The conference is coming up soon - It will be April 15,16 and 17
in Mountain View, California.
We are very excited about the speakers and activities we have planned
for this year. The keynote speakers are:
* Henry Kingman - senior editor for LinuxDevices.com. Henry has been
writing about embedded Linux for over 10 years, and will share some
great insights into open source and the industry.
* Andrew Morton - legendary kernel developer. Andrew is the lead
maintainer of the development kernel and a key figure in Linux progress.
Andrew will discuss how the kernel community works, and ways
embedded industry developers can work best with the community.
* Tim Bird - Architecture Group chair for the CE Linux Forum. Tim will give
an overview of recent trends and technology in embedded Linux, and talk
about its current status.
Along with these keynotes, there are over 50 sessions, tutorials
and Bird-of-a-Feather sessions on topics like:
* Power management
* Tools and debugging techniques
* Embedded distributions
* Linux in mobile devices (including an Android demo!)
* System Size
* Flash filesystems
* Graphics and video
* Realtime Performance
* Security
* Bootup Time
You'll be able to talk directly to many of the primary maintainers
of important kernel features and add-ons such as flash
filesystem authors, power management gurus, embedded security
experts and so forth.
AND you'll get tips and knowledge from real-world industry developers.
There will be sessions from developers from Sony, Samsung, Hitachi, LG,
Toshiba, NEC, IBM, Philips, Intel, Freescale, MontaVista, TimeSys,
Lineo Solutions, Embedded Alley and many more!!
Find out how these developers customize Linux for their products,
and overcome difficulties in their development work. One session could
save you days of research or weeks of debugging pain!
The conference is less than a month away. If you plan to come, now is the
time to make the arrangements. Register now by following the link on the
conference page at: http://www.embeddedlinuxconference.com/
