[svlug] ATT DSL from Linux problems

Hi,

I am switching away from Comcast cable to ATT/Yahoo DSL ... :-(

I seems to have Roaring Penguin configured correctly and indeed I had the 
DSL link up for a while, but now all I see on the ethernet link to the DSL 
modem is lots of:

    PPPoE PADI [Service-Name] [Host-Uniq 0xsome-hex-digits]

and it no longer wants to connect. I am pretty certain that my end wants 
to talk, because if I kill all instances of pppoe the interface goes 
quiet.

Does anyone have any advice?

The AT&T telephone support is hopeless. They say: start Internet explorer 
and connect to 192.168.1.254 even though I have explained that the 
computer runs Linux and has firefox and I already have 192.168.1/8 
connected anyway :-(
