This actually is dependent on the version of the intel X.org video
driver. In versions before 2.0, there was no native mode setting in
the driver and the 915resolution utility was needed. For 2.0 and
later, there is native mode switching and you don't need
915resolution.

Debian Etch ships 1.7.2 of the intel drivers. It's actually called 810
instead of intel in that version. Debian Unstable/Testing are shipping
post 2.0 versions. Ubuntu Gutsy is shipping post 2.0 versions. I am
not sure about Feisty.
