[svlug] photo post processing

I just found out that I've had my monitors way out of whack from what
most people use to look at photos. So, things that look perfectly fine
to me, look very dark and underexposed to most people.

For example these looked great on my monitors, but bad most other
places, especially if people were using CRTs:

I redid these with ufraw-batch and exposure =2

and these at exposure =3

These are just some test shots processed at:
exposure = 1

exposure = 2

exposure = 3

I tried processing in ufraw with various settings -gamma= but didn't
notice a lot of difference. What software and arguments do other
people use for batch processing their photos?

I found the program xgamma for resetting the gamma curve on my LCD,
where would I want to put in a call to run it? Or is there already a
place and I just need to change a constant in some file? It seems that
gamma=2.2 is the nominal, lowest common denominator setting.

                   It's good to learn from my mistakes.
            I just wish I didn't keep coming up with new lessons.
