There's a good chance it won't. There's an absolutely massive bug in
the GUI updater which causes it to fail to notice that the upgrade
took place if you don't use the GUI upgrader.
I made the mistake of adding my $0.02 to the Launchpad bug report, and
for about three months I got emails about every 4 hours as people
reported the same bug (it automatically mails you on any changes).
I do not know if they fixed the bug, I sorta stopped paying attention
to those emails two weeks into it.
