Hello,

You may have heard of the Openmoko Freerunner.  It is a smartphone whose 
goal is to be as open as possible.  Most of the hardware specs are 
available online as is the source code for most of the software.

The phone is unlocked, GSM based, and triband.  You can choose the 
850/1800/1900 unit (which is the best for the U.S.) or the 900/1800/1900 
unit.  The phone includes two accelerometers and a GPS.  The LCD touch 
screen is 640x480.  The unit features a USB 1.1 interface and a micro SD 
slot.  It has Wifi.  It runs a Linux kernel (ARM architecture) and apps 
can be written against GTK or QT.  More information at

Mass production has started and the phones should be available soon. 
You can order the phones individually for $399 or you can join a 10-pack 
group sale for $369 a unit.  The warranty is the same in either case. 
If you join the group sale, you will get a headset, pouch, a cool 
stylus, and a charger at no extra cost.
