Good news:  The pre-2000 majordomo archives _are_ on this machine.  
At some point, I'll be merging in the pre-2000 mbox file and
regenerating the pipermail archive.  The only downside is that 
all of the existing back-postings will necessarily be at new
URLs (because the archive will get renumbered).

I think the minor dislocation is merited, in that case.
