Thank you Andrew for coming up with a damn great idea, & volunteering to
run with it.
I second the idea, contingent on you providing some paper audit trail.
Maybe one of the Googlionaires (or Untanglionaires) in the audience will
one day think "I might not have gotten my _job_ if it hadn't been for
Richard Stallman & his trusty GPL," and throw a 10G-Spot in the (Red)
Hat.
Now, the bay area & svlug has an unfair advantage against other areas in
terms of per capita wealth, & total # members in the lug. But a
possibly fair contest would be to challenge all lugs worldwide to see
which lug can get the greatest % of its members making a contribution to
the fsf. This would be a fun & beneficial friendly competition.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people
always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can
become great.
