[svlug] Digg request for a Linux non-profit donor

It is hard to find a guy who has done more to raise the profile of FOSS on
the desktop in the SF Bay Area than James Burgett of the ACCRC.org. He has
given away 16,000 computers, got Dugg to the home page for that, was
featured in CNN as a local "hero" for helping the needy, but now a toxic
waste regulatory agency says that James' ACCRC is a "waste dump". Anyone
who has been to his Berkeley warehouse knows that he is on the cutting edge
of lots of FOSS hardware hacks, but is not a waste dump.

So, at any rate, I have offered to help James out by doing a little
publicity. To start, I submitted a story to /. , but it didn't make the
cut. Now, I have submitted a story to Digg, and maybe if we can push it
onto the Digg front page, we have a better chance of getting some bodies
over to the ACCRC to help him out, and maybe even a little cash. Plus, he
is planning to do a little clean up to satisfy the regulators. For all of
these things he needs some help, so if you wanted to consider supporting him
with a Digg, that would be awesome:

This guy has done a LOT for our public middle school. He has given us some
badly needed switches and thin clients, for starters, so I really appreciate
his work. This guy is a mini digital tipping point all unto himself. Just
think of the huge number of people whom he has shown that there is an
alternative to Microsoft that is not Apple.

Thanks either way for considering the request!
