[svlug] networking on kubuntu 7.10

When I installed 7.04 on my laptop, everything pretty much just
worked.

I installed 7.10 on another drive this afternoon, and I can't get eth0
to come up with dhcp, it keeps coming up with 169.254.8.83 as a static
address, and when I try to change it to dhcp, it tells me that the
default gateway is invalid.

Can someone give me a clue as to what changed to break dhcp from just
working?
