[svlug] Why do you guys Linux so much ?

Tri,

I run Fedora 7 on my HP dv1000. It works very well. Wireless, screen
resolution, sleep, hibernation and dvd burner all work nicely. 

If you order a Dell Laptop with Linux installed, everything is already
setup for you. 

Linux and Gnu give me choice, options and flexibility not seen in any
other offering. Of course, there in no panacea. However there are enough
pros vs. the cons for me to use Linux and Gnu software. And this is with
exposure to Linux, Mac, and Windows on a consistent basis for home and
work. 

There is also talk of Red Hat entering the desktop market in earnest
with their Global Desktop offering. From what I understand, many of the
needed multimedia codecs are going to be offered with this version.
