There are a lot of NAT'ed computers out there hiding behind Linux
routers, and the router's firewalls are usually programmed to DROP
unsolicited pings.

Interestingly, though, 61% of the IP addresses responded to pings.

BTW, Steve Gibson's on line port scanner is handy, (like when you use
someone else's computer, or in a coffee shop, etc.):

and go to the bottom of the page, and proceed. Then scan all service
ports, etc. Its a pretty quick way to tell how good the IT staff that
runs the computer are, (and don't expect too good.)
