[svlug] USB/RS232 Dongle?

I got a really cheap USB/RS232 dongle, and dmesg says:

    usb.c: USB device 2 (vend/prod 0x4348/0x5523) is not claimed by
    any active driver.

Its a FT232 chip from ftdi.com.

Their site says its already supported by Linux, and it apparently is:

    /lib/modules/2.4.27/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.o
    /lib/modules/2.6.7/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/ftdi_sio.ko

Any advice?
