Does it store its place in a song, not just which song it was
playing? I have a Sansa e130, and it's fine except for that one
misfeature. I listen to a lot of long podcasts and it can't
remember that it was 43 minutes into an hour show.
I got by for a while with a script that broke each podcast into
5-minute segments and fiddled with the title and album information,
but I finally got tired of that and bought something else.

Talking to the e130 from Linux is no problem, though: it's standard
usb-storage. The Sansa's internal flash shows up on sda1 and
any installed SD card shows up on sdb1.

(Well, it was no problem until last week, when an Edgy upgrade
somehow broke ehci_hcd. Now I can no longer talk to any external
USB storage devices unless I disable USB2. Apparently it's a
longstanding bug, 54419, but no one knows what triggers it. Sigh.)

How do you end up making the playlists?
