[svlug] CD automount stopped working on FC5 upgrade

For various reasons, I need to run Fedora Core 5 rather than 6 on my
desktop machine at work. I did a fresh install, then just did a
software update. Once I did the software update, it stopped
automatically mounting cd roms when I put them in the drive.

The drive is a plextor SATA CD/DVD burner. I can manually mount it
using:
mount /dev/scd0 /media/cdrom

Also, programs like x-cd-roast and k3b can easily find the drive, but
the default behaviour of having an item appear on the desktop for the
new CD or DVD stopped working. It'd be convenient to have that back.

I've tried to find the right doc to RTFM, but the advice I've found,
to add the line:
/dev/scd0	/media/cdrom auto	pamconsole,exec,auto,managed	0 0
to /etc/fstab still doesn't make it automount.

I left my USB SD card reader at home today, so I can't easily test if
the automount feature works still works with it.

Software that holds your hand is one thing, software that holds your
hand and won't let go is really, really annoying.
