Just two afterthoughts:  1.  Odds are, you've not transcribed the error
message accurately.  Either that, or the sendmail guys' spelling
abilities have recently taken a nosedive.  Inaccurately posting error
messages of course drastically reduces your likelihood of getting useful
help.

Your true error message _might_ have been "451 4.3.0 Temporary system
failure.  Please try again later."   Or not.  We are left to speculate
-- which, again, augurs poorly for _you_.

2.  Any chance you flubbed the ownership or persmissions on
/etc/mail/{access|aliases}.* ?  If sendmail can't read those, it
displays the message I quote immediately above.  (Of course, there are
probably myriads of other causes, but those are among them.)
