[svlug] Mounting drives

Hey all,

I went ahead and just did an apt-get install
portmap, and it went out and got it, and then
started it.

So now I see this:

root at Xu-400:/mnt# ps waux | grep portmap
daemon 5058 0.0 0.0 1708 392 ? Ss
   10:25 0:00 /sbin/portmap
root 5118 0.0 0.1 2800 752 pts/2 R+
   10:34 0:00 grep portmap
root at Xu-400:/mnt#

So it looks like portmap is up and running, right?

And when I did a mount -a

...all the file systems under /mnt from the server
where mounted very quickly.

I can read files from the server, but cannot write
them back in Kate. I get a permissions or no disk
space error. I did a 777 of all relevant files to
make simply eliminate that for now (won't leave it
that way!), but I still get the error.

Suggestions?

By the way, no server changes have taken place at
all, only the installation of Xu on the workstations.

Grrrr...

Thanks,
Skip
