[svlug] fsck on HD booted from CD???

Hey all,

I've been installing Xubuntu, which I am really
liking, on our workstations here in the office
today, and I ran into a snag with one.

It kept getting errors on the HD during several
install tries, so I figured it might help to run fsck.

(Sorry, I didn't write down the error, but it
certainly read like a HD sector glitch kind of
thing, probably a bad spot that maybe fsck could
take care of)

Anyway, the partial install now has the machine
unbootable from the HD, and the only thing I can
get to boot at all is a Live CD of Freesbie 1.1.

It is now booted, and I would like to run fsck on
the HD, except the fstab file is empty for the
this live CD boot.

How can I run fsck, or some other way to check
out/clean up the hard drive?

Thanks!
