You could go directly to mozilla.org and grab theirs, and install it
outside the packaging system, linking the version you install to
/usr/local/bin (don't worry, putting stuff in /usr/local won't hurt a
thing).

It's inadvisable to run the Debian stable version; you're taking a
substantial security risk, for one thing.  It's too old, there is zero
upstream support for 1.0.x, and there are huge numbers of security flaws,
and security.debian.org has only backported a few of the worst bugs, far
from all of them.  And they do not backport crash fixes, only severe
security bugs.
