[svlug] limewire on Linux

Hey all,
A friend of mine wanted to download some stuff
using our Windows machine here and limewire, which
I had heard has some serious virus/spyware issues
on Windows (I don't keep up with Windows stuff, to
be honest, but this is what I've heard), so I was
dubious.
I do see they have a Linux version, but my
dubiuosity remains stalwart. (Okay, so dubiuosity,
as the King's English goes, may be questionable,
but I'm kind of proud of getting stalwart in there.)
Googling I found this on gentoo.org:
"A remote attacker can craft a specific Gnutella
GET request or use directory traversal on magnet
requests to read arbitrary files on the system
with the rights of the user running LimeWire."
But this seems like a pretty typical example of
the kinds of security holes found in software on a
regular basis.
All other issue aside, does anyone know of any
technical reasons to steer clear of limewire on Linux?
