I'm reasonably certain that Skip was actually asking a somewhat unfocussed
question about whether people can recommend Samba-substitute network
mechanisms for networks involving Linux and MS-Windows machines, that
people felt might have better security.  (Somehow, that question emerged
out of his equally unfocussed question about Linux services for
MS-Windows machines and the possibility of MS-Windows malware inside the
MS-Windows files hosted on Linux.)
