[svlug] Bickering - solution

My postulate is that SVLUG is a victim of its own success. It is
imposible for it to be all things to all geeks, and there are too many
people who want too many different things.
Rather than trying to be a huge organization that saves the world for
open source, it would likely work best as a loose confederation of
groups that each focused something different.
The functions that I see, off hand, are:
a mailing list as a source of technical advice
a mailing list to announce events
a mailing list to coordinate activism/advocacy for FOSS
a mailing list for name calling, bickering and flamewars
the mailing lists could be separate or combined
Big meetings/presentations on various topics linux related
installfests and other hands-on technical events
educational events such as the kernel walkthroughs
BOF type gatherings like the photo group I want to get going after
the holidays
There is very little that each one requires from any of the others.
If you want something to happen, organize it and make it happen. If
you need help, ask for help and if enough people chip in, it'll
happen.
