If you only need to a mobile device only for reading.. I would suggest
amazon's kindle or sony's ebook reader. They have great battery life (i
think about a week).. plus they use eInk so you wont strain your eyes
reading a book(not a back lit screen.. just looks like paper). Kindle is
also supposed to have a verizon card and can download newspaper directly
to the device(cost lesser than the paper one)(They did a review on the
latest diggnations video)

Downside is that they are a bit expensive(sony: $300, kindle: $400)
