The Digital Tipping Point uses by-SA. I would not recommend a by-NC-SA
license or any other configuration using the NC restriction, because it
means that no one can ever put up any footage on any site that *might*
generate revenue in any way, shape or form, not even Google ads, which are
rather ubiquitous.

Also, WRT to Google owning the copyright if it goes up onto YouTube, no,
don't worry about that. Google does not strip the copyright from the user.
A substantial portion of YouTube video also lives elsewhere.

IMHO, we should really consider putting the high-res version of this footage
up onto the Internet Archive. Anyone can get an Internet Archive account,
of course, but I would be very pleased to add the high res files onto the
Internet Archive's Digital Tipping Point Video Collection.

FYI, the Archive is rolling out new software, and so they are experiencing a
few difficulties as a result, including searching their website. They tell
me it should be resolved by the end of this week.

The nice thing about the Internet Archive is that you can store .ogg files
there in high res format. Unlike Flash, which is closed, .ogg is fully
open, and also supports Annodex technology, which will help the world tag
and index continuous media (their term for audio and video):

It would really help the Annodex project and FOSS in general to make the
.ogg files available. I would be happy to do the work of capturing,
compressing, and loading the footage in .mpg and .ogg format onto the
Internet Archive's Digital Tipping Point Video Collection, as Jonathan
Grindstaff has written some nice BASH scripts for the DTP project to glue
together various apps such as dvgrab, transcode, ffmpeg2theora, and w3m:
