[svlug] RH dependencies, not using up2date

I only have one machine that runs RHEL, and it's 3 Update 8, but
according to the manual page for up2date on it there is an option to
specify a path of directories to look for packages.
Does `up2date -k dir1:dir2:dir3 package` fulfill the `rpm-wrapper
--getdepends -i /disk/all7.3rpms/package.rpm` example?
