hi ya

- it looks like tbere's been a major flood

- has anyone the time to actually create "politics at svlug.org" ??

	- if you don't have an account, i'm sure paul or rick or others
will help set it up ( 5 minutes of time is alloted for creating it )

	- please auto sign up those that have been discussing the
	political issues

	- maybe, in this case, its warranted to take pro-active, dictorship
	style of management ??

- some folks in svlug did already ask "us" to take this stuff elsewhere
  and they are correct

---------
#
# new process/proceedures/constitution/bylaws etc
#

- it will be a long and ongoing process ...

- everyone that wants to have a say should be able to do so

raising the bar to certain requirements will probably be
	a bad idea

	- it should NOT require a google acct
	- it should be hosted on politics.svlug.org or something
	- it should NOT be via email ... it should be face-to-face
	  meetings to minimize headaches

	- it would need to be voted on numerous times for each
section that will have opposing parties

	- it should NOT be anonymous

	- personally, i think people that are against some
keypoints should be noted as such if they so desire it be known

- the important points in my view, will be:

a) no one person, especially officers, volunteers dictates what
   is good for svlug

	- svlug is NOT a puppet
	- svlug can run and operate without officers

	- svlug does NEED lots of volunteers to keep things moving

	- new volunteers usually imply more things gets done

	- process/proceedure should be go drum up support
for the proposal and take a vote amongst volunteers
and if needed voted on by the community

b) follow thru on things that svlug has voted on and implement it
as customarily done with good faith and standard practices

svlug.org is still in its original un-manageable state
held by the Pres of sbay whom lost the vote

	================================================
where is all the svlug archives of missing files ???
especially about political terms, votes, consensus,
	bylaws, etc
	================================================

c) if there was a consensus meeting at black angus for action
items, it should be "done" by those that proposed it and
not expect other people to do that "work"

personally, i think there is no way a virtual box can
handle svlug.org ... html pages is 1.5GB and more importantly,
who is gonna maintain for the months/years to come

what happens when we outgrow the virtual box

everybody knows how to maintain a "real box"
in a matter of minutes and restorable from full backups
with a push of a button if needed

d) for 501c3 stuff ...
	- i say, paul, drop that idea .. it is NOT your call to
re-initialize that debate that also lost that vote

	- there is no new info nor new support or new reasons for the idea

   	- who pay for the $500(?) annual tax for the 510c3 corporations
	- it is NOT tax exempt
	- you do realize there will be additional required legal requirements

e) svlug's name should NOT be used to "do something" for the good
of svlug's community or the outside world

"i will do this" because "svlug needs this" is a bad idea

f) svlug is already in the 21st century:
   - except for the political issues ( process and proceedures )

   - except for the state of the "silly sw" on the 5+yr old server
which nobody can touch due to "1 person" who plays dictator
and again, it is NOT for 1 person to decide what's good for us

and it can be replaced in a matter of hours
but if we were to in fact fix it, the "excuse" is now gone

c ya
