We laugh about this idea of open source spirituality, but actually, there is
a group that purports to practice open source spirituality, and they do have
the status of a church:

You might laugh, but the guy who runs this is a friend of mine.  He does
have odd ideas, occasionally, it is true.  But he is still a great guy.  In
fact, he is the only guy to have successfully sued Scientology.  His heart
is in the right place,
