Fine. I'm a candidate. I can't get to the Dec. 5 meeting because I
will be at the Google Web event that I won at the last meeting.

I am a good friend of many of the contentious people you have been
hearing from of late, including Paul, Rick, Darlene, Heather,... I
don't favor any of them over the others, or any of the rest of us.

As VP, I would work on expanding our reach into schools and around the
world. You all know about my connection with One Laptop Per Child and
its killer education apps. Take a look at my pages, starting from
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Mokurai, and my LinkedIn (proprietary),
Friendly Favors ( and other networking pages. Like Mayor Washington in
Chicago, I would aim to be fairer than fair.

My proposal for contentious issues is to move them elsewhere, off the
main mailing list, to some place where anybody interested can watch
and comment. I will cheerfully referee, unless I am involved, in which
case the community can propose someone else. We can discuss the ground
rules for debate, or even the ground rules for the ground rules. There
is debating space on 4forums.org, for example, or we can just create a
separate mailing list to remain dormant between flare-ups.

Any questions?
