I think the only thing we have to go on is tradition of the past here.
Due to the fact the there are no bylaws, Paul has virtually unlimited
latitude to do what he wants. However, there isn't much point if there
isn't support from the group. I think that the best thing here is the
err on the side of caution and just do the election. Hopefully, once
bylaws are drawn up and approved, any similar situations in the future
can hopefully avoid this level of unhappiness.

To be honest, I don't even know what action would require "officer
status." I am here to help the group as I have been in the other LUGs
in which I participated..
