It's not so much an organizational takeover as a takeover of the tone.
Your repeated accusations make this a very unpleasant list to read.

Rick, I have zero interest in dealing with your latest five-page
indictment of your fellow volunteers, many of which are for
matters that were already settled long ago.  Let it drop.

They say that academic politics are so bitter because the stakes are
so low.  With LUGs, they are even lower.  At least academics fight
over tenure, research budget and career advancement; are you really
going to go to war over leftover money in the picnic fund?
