Quoting Jennifer Davis (sigje at sigje.org):

So, Sbay _didn't_ pick the picnic coordinator and treasurer this year
without consulting any Bay Area Linux user group? The leftover
sponsorship funds in 2006 _weren't_ rolled into Sbay's treasury, and
aren't being this year, too?

Sorry, Jennifer, doesn't wash.

> SBAY organizes it....

_There_ you go. That didn't use to be the case. You acknowleged the
change when the problem was brought to your attention privately, refused
to do anything about it, and literally said you just wanted to ensure
that the inevitable blowup happened during your successor's year, rather
than yours.

Nothing wrong with Sbay running a summer picnic, of course -- and it's
nice of them to invite us -- but it's no longer ours. Thus the point.

> Embrace the positive, and recognize what is available.

And tell the truth.

Heather told me last night that she wanted to bring this mess up in
order to "disprove" my brief comparison on Volunteers between her
faithful domain stewardship and the notably bad faith shown by her
predecessor. I'd _assumed_ she'd post on Volunteers, which means I'm
surprised and a bit disappointed to see her do it here. But the other
thing I said was that, if she honestly maintained I'd been wrong, please
say so (i.e., on Volunteers), since I think the truth matters.

> The Picnic should be fun this year.

I expect and hope so.

Next year, I think the Bay Area's Linux user groups should hold one, too.
