Individuals don't dictate the community, or the events.

Even if it's someone that is highly respected, and a volunteer in whatever
organization.

It's the Linux Picnic because the community of people volunteer, and
interact. The Linux Picnic doesn't "belong" to any group. SVLUG, SBAY,
whatever. SBAY organizes it, ensures that it has money to pay for the
food/drinks/whatever so that the individual volunteers can focus on
spreading the Linux gospel. Everyone who is interested in volunteering or
being part of the Linux Picnic community is welcomed.

Embrace the positive, and recognize what is available. There is no need
to be negative because while it will confuse some people, it will also
alienate you from others.

The Picnic should be fun this year. I think it's getting back to its
roots of more volunteer based and less structured. One of the best parts
of being part of it in the past is that ability to really bond with so
many different people with different skills and accomplish something BIG.

I want to personally thank everyone who has been a part of the picnic in
the past, and thank everyone who will continue to make this event
something worthwhile that really makes us standout in the grander scheme
of making a difference in the acceptance of Linux and Open Source in
general as being viable.

Jennifer, Picnic Coordinator XV, and XIV
