Feisty.  It worked fine in Edgy.  Apparently, the newer version of ALSA
shipped in Feisty (1.0.13, if I recall correctly) has some issues.
Booting into a previous Kernel (the one installed when we installed Edgy
onto the laptop) seemed to help.  Apparently, some 1.0.14rcXYZ of ALSA
fixes this, but I didn't have luck.

Just throwing it out there... haven't tried recording yet, honestly.
