Thank you for asking.  I met Hans a couple of times, in years past,
though I can't say I have ever known him well.  The disappearance of his 
ex-wife is indeed shocking.  At this point, she's been missing so many days
that prospects for her are estimated to be quite bleak, though nobody is
certain.  Police investigations are still ongoing.

Last I heard, their two children were with Alameda County Child
Protective Services, since Hans was not the custodial parent.  Hans and
his mother were, when last I heard, attempting to get them returned to 
their house in Oakland, and not yet having much luck.

My inclination is:  Respect Hans and his family's privacy.  If I hear
that there is a need for assistance, I'll certainly pass word along
(though I'm not in the loop).
