Someone on LiveJournal reccomended Picasa. I tried to use it and
absolutely hated it.

For this job, I don't need, or even want, to deal with every picture
on my whole hard drive, but if there was a way to just import a
directory tree, rather than only a directory, or the whole hard drive,
I couldn't find it. Plus, Picasa doesn't totally go away when you
close it. The performance sucks. The list goes on. As far as I can
tell, it's even worse than iPhoto.

Software that holds your hand is one thing, software that holds your
hand and won't let go is really, really annoying.
