1.  Like a broken wristwatch, I _have_ been known to be right a couple of
times a day.  ;->

2.  However, I do hope "rebuild Apache" means "install clean distro
packages of the httpd, mod_ssl, and OpenSSL", not "compile from source 
tarballs".
