Yeah, I'm just happy because theoretically I could. Before Linux, I
could offer to help them and their products all I wanted, but they
just didn't care. Totally different here. Much better, IMO.

Well, pehaps it's possible to use multiple Wiki systems? Probably
not, but if someone did want to use something other than MoinMoin,
they should probably focus on building a compatibility layer which
would abstract different Wiki systems so you could use multiple Wiki
systems simultainiously. I don't know enough about Wiki stuff in
general to know what that implicates, but even it it's the hardest,
most SQL/special file centric-problem imaginable, it's still
theoretically possible.
That way the unhappy ones could give back to the community in a
reusable software component.

What is the new series of advertisements? "Don't almost help?"
Sorry, I thought it just helped illustrate your point.

By definition volunteers will probably do whatever they want. If they
think MoinMoin is the wrong choice so much as to make something
different, they're going to go do it. So, if it's not already there,
you should probably make a public rsync account on the SVLUG server so
people interested in proving themselves correct can go do so at their
heart's content. Would also serve as a good backup system.
I've always considered doing some small work on the SVLUG site if I
can ever find the time, and a mechanism to obtain a complete set of
all site resources would be helpful. Then volunteers (and me) and
make a little mini-SVLUG server for testing purposes.
Just an idea to play with. I do acknowledge the security risk in
exposing the site code (un-protected PHP scripts which could be
exploited) so please don't call me on that weakness in the idea. I'm
aware of that risk.
And finally, if I do ever find the time to work on the SVLUG site,
I'll probably try and help further the MoinMoin initiative, since that
sounds like the best use of time (to me).
Don't get worried about a crazed Lord Sauron reinventing the Wiki
system and using SVLUG as a testing ground. I'm young, not stupid ; )
