No matter what you do on the Internet, there'll always be someone,
usually multiple people -- people who _aren't_ bothering to do any of
the work -- who're glad to tell you (usually after you're 90% done) that
your work sucks and that you should be doing something else. Ah well.

This looks pretty nice: http://www.ubuntu.com/
and this: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/
not to mention: https://wiki.edubuntu.org/EdubuntuWiki
and this one: http://bazaar-vcs.org/
and here: http://wiki.python.org/moin/FrontPage
and also: http://opie.handhelds.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/
and, hey, this is really clean: http://lagses.berkeley.edu/wiki.cgi/Home
All of those were built on MoinMoin, without notably torturing the
architecture.
However, you might be right, Daniel, so why don't you go fully populate
a MediaWiki prototype for us. SVLUG's site has only several hundred
pages. I'm sure you'll have it done in no time.
