Just a brief note to point out:

o mp3cut from the poc-streamer package is by Manuel Odendahl
and Florian Wesch. Appears to be orphaned upstream.

o Mpcut by Warren Toomey (what Don spoke of) is available upstream
at http://minnie.tuhs.org/Programs/Mpcut/ . Not the same app.

o mp3cut by _Christian Wolff_ is available upstream
   at http://scara.com/mp3cut/ or http://sourceforge.net/projects/mp3cut/ .
Not to be confused with. (Crowded namespace, wot?)

o There's also a tool by that name in CPAN.
