I did eventually figure out that dovecot also provided an imap daemon, 
but by that point I was beyond my patience for playing with new 
software, which means figuring out where to put the SSL, rewriting my 
whitelist harvesting and mailing list redirectors for yet another 
mailbox format, etc.  I should have just rebuilt the machines on SuSE, 
but there were too many bits and pieces that would have had to be 
reinstalled.
