Just a quick thought...
I know that some people were saying that they'd like to mirror some
ISO images to some popular distros for SVLUG. I also then thought
"man, that's a lot of bandwidth!"
I recently bought a hosting service that I don't think I'm going to
use because they have PHP 4.0 and I need 5.0 because 5.0 has the hash
library with the ultra-cool WHIRLPOOL hashing algorithm. However, I
think SVLUG might like it as a kind of file shack for these reasons:
It has unmetered transfer.
It has unmetered disk storage.
It also has PHP 4.0, MySQL (I don't know which version) and a bunch of
other features which I don't care about but others may like. It also
has some kind of automated backup mechanism that I never read about (I
got as far as the lack of PHP 5 and got disappointed).
I've already paid for a month of it and I'm not going to bother to ask
for it back, but if SVLUG is interested in using it I can give it over
complete with a free month of service.
The hosting provider is www.domainkeepers.net. Their site is really
ill (it wasn't about 2 weeks ago when I bought it) and still has "Lore
ispum" all over it, but the serice works. It's about $15/month.
I don't know if anyone is interested, but the offer is there should
anyone want to take advantage of it.
