:-) Good for a laugh... but let's hope not! Here's how I foresee
using the space:
- mailinglist and other archives
- backups of the main server drives
- an ISO farm of latest releases of say the dozen most popular linuxes
- the "attachments" area for the wiki (separated from primary webserver area)
Note that the JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks) holds 8 SCSI drives...
loaded with 8 36GB drives, assuming 80% usable after all is said and
done (RAID & whatever other overhead) that's really only around 230GB
- you can buy EIDE drives at Fry's for chump change that have more
space.
The COOL thing, though, is that we can easily upgrade the JBOD later.
I'll probably make 2 RAID arrays (of 4 disks each) rather than one
large one (all 8 together), on the assumption that sometime in the
future we might replace the drives with ones with much more capacity.
Having two RAID arrays will allow us to copy everything to the larger
drives with a bit of drive-shuffling.
