Robert - fear not, for there IS no feud between SBAY and SVLUG. I'm
the poor fool who just agreed to be President of this LUG, and I'd
know if there was a feud.
There is no feud... but there is a concern: what Alvin did just now.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette rocks, and I would hope people
in SVLUG could be more polite with each other than this. Alvin
violated two powerful netiquette rules - (1) he copied my private
words to a public forum without my prior consent (2) he didn't quote
the entire message, and didn't even indicate with ...snip... or [...]
that he had omitted important content. Then he threw in a contention
that "X implies Y" which folded like a house of cards under
examination, and wrapped up with revisionist history about what was
being voted on and why.
The other day he dropped a similar masterpiece on me. He replied to
the volunteers list, when the message he was replying to contained an
explicit request from me that he, Mark, Rick, and Heather _all_
refrain from replying, since I wanted to get the uninfluenced
perspectives of some other volunteers.
Alvin could have chosen to reply via private email, but he chose to
directly and knowingly defy my request, and posted his opinion to the
volunteers list instead, ruining my chances of ever learning the other
volunteers uninfluenced opinions.
OK I'm gonna try 'n go back to sleep, if I can stop myself from
wondering whether "Three strikes your out" only applies to Baseball or
not.
Hope this has been at least mildly amusing to some of you...
