Web 2.0 applications involve significant amounts of
JavaScript, usually in the form of AJAX (Asynchrononous
JavaScript and XML). The result can be a web site that
feels as interactive as a desktop application, complete
with dragging and dropping elements around the screen.
Automating tests for simple form-based web sites was
difficult enough; automating tests for a Web 2.0
application presents a significant challenge. In this
presentation, Elisabeth Hendrickson demonstrates using
JSUnit and Selenium to test a Web 2.0 application.
Elisabeth Hendrickson is the founder and president of Quality
Tree Software, Inc <http://www.qualitytree.com/>. For almost
two decades, she has worked with a wide variety of software
development teams and organizations ranging from tiny
startups to members of the Fortune 500.
Most recently, she has been working with Extreme Programming
teams to bridge the gap between developer and customer
testing. In addition to consulting, she teaches software
testing classes, speaks at conferences, and writes. Prior
to founding her company, she held positions as a tester,
test automator, programmer, lead, and manager.
