[svlug] LinuxFest other than an InstallFest??

Somebody new here (Blacksburg, VA, home to Virginia Tech) is asking
on our VTLUUG board about LinuxFests, and insists they're not the same
thing as an installfest. What is one? Something like a BierWanderung,
maybe??

There's supposed to've been one in Galax, VA, some time in the recent
past. So I tried asking on Novalug, and got a couple of suggestions for
pub crawls, but nothing specifically on any called a LinuxFest -- nor even
any mention of hiking. (For those innocent of the language of Goethe, a
Wanderung is a hike, not a crawl.) 

Surely on Svlug if anywhere there must be someone who knows, either the
general term or something about the event in Galax (which is a long long
way, by Eastern standards, from *Northern* Virginia -- and maybe a still
longer way electronically from any concentration of linux people) ....
