Interesting start for the new millenium, one software empire is about to
start falling appart while others will step in place. Let's help it
happen but make sure that digital genetic code stays diversified to
provide more secure computing environment.
The merger/acquisition, if it ever happens, might stimulate people to
create new distributions. We badly need "server distribution" that will
let us install different kind of servers. Idealy it would have 10 or 15
different options to select from. Redhat is awfull when it comes to that
and debian is not any better. Too much cleaning is needed to select the
right stuff to setup a server of some kind. To Redhat, a server is a
server.
For AOL to succeed all they need is a stable distribution and something to
let people run *exe programs. http://www.lindows.com perhaps?
