Job Title               Sr. Linux Kernel Software Engineer



Job Description

·        Design, develop, and maintain advanced Linux kernel features for
releases

·        Design, develop, and enhance Linux tools, commands and processes
for releases

·        Track, evaluate and integrate development from the Linux open
source community as it relates to requirements

·        Evaluate system performance and help with performance tuning for
systems

·        Work on kernel for multiple target architectures (e.g. PPC, x86,
MIPS etc)

·        Write design specifications and other supporting documents as
needed for your projects

·        Participate in requirements gathering, design and code reviews in
multiple areas

·        Work with QA engineers to help in developing their test plans, and
test cases and in debugging their execution of your code



Skill Requirements

MUST-HAVE skills

·        Good understanding of all the phases of software development life
cycle.

·        7+ years of software development experience.

·        At least 3 solid years of Linux kernel development

·        Expert Level programming skills in C. Assembly should also be
excellent.

·        Thorough understanding of Linux covering areas such as dynamic
loader, shared libraries, debuggers (gdb), compilers (gcc), and Linux kernel
internals (filesystems, virtual memory, networking, device drivers, and
system call architecture).

·        Well versed with the usage of debugging tools and techniques

·        Knowledge of 2 or more hardware architectures (e.g. PPC/x86/MIPS).



Other Skills

·        Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and be a
good team player.

·        Capable of working independently.



Good-to-have Skills

·        Programming skills in C++/Java a plus.



Education Requirements:              BS CS/EE or similar
