Embedded Systems Software Architect -Oakland, CA

Duration: 06 Months Contract

Client is currently seeking a talented and energetic Embedded Systems
Software Engineer/Architect. 

The position requires participation in implementing prototypes for home
gateway systems based on the INTEL ARM processor. The position is in a
project that is very high profile and among the top 10 projects.

Project: 
Develop QoS in a home gateway solution by by using both L3 QoS and L2 QoS
mechanism. Implementation of identifying, marking and scheduling of both
upstream and downstream packets from the home-gateway system.

Responsibilities include: 

*	Work closely with R&D team to deliver cutting edge prototypes in an
embedded linux environment.. 
*	Be the primary lead to architect and design, and implement firmware
programs for the company's IP based network system.
*	Work with R&D to create working prototypes/demos that will be show
cased to the peers and project leads from France.
*	Work with Project Manager to define and prioritize new features and
enhancements
*	Prepare test cases to ensure that the prototype is working correctly

Requirements

*	Embedded-linux or vxworks experience
*	Experience working with embedded system and RTOS development
environments
*	Expertise with systems architecture utilizing ARM processors
*	Experience with a range of development and prototyping tools from
vendors like WindRiver and National Instruments.
*	BSCS or BSEE and 7+ years of embedded systems software development.
*	7+ years hands on experience in developing low level control
processing, (Interrupts, Timers, Digital I/O) in C/C++
*	5+ years of experience working with real time operating systems.
*	5+ years of experience as a software engineer developing in a
UNIX/Linux environment.
*	Experience working with IP networking protocols
*	Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated
ability to author and communicate technical specifications.
*	Detail-oriented, ability to work independently, and strong
organizational skills.
*	Ability to deliver quality and defect-free software.
*	Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment and deliver
on schedule.
*	Must work well in a tight schedule to maximize prototype feature
demos
*	Must be able to work collaboratively, listen, and incorporate new
ideas into designs.

 

Desired Experience: 

*	Experience programming with C, C++, Perl (or any other scripting
language)
*	Knowledge or experience with QoS methodologies in IP networks.
