1. We never anticipated that people would be attempting to use
"http://svlug.org/" URLs for the static site, when we clearly,
consistently, everywhere, told people the site is http://www.svlug.org/ .
So, when we redirected the FQDN "www.svlug.org" to the replacement site,
quite a few months ago, and a small trickle of people (I think you're
now the third) said "Hey, why is htt://svlug.org/ out of date?", the Web
Team's initial response was "Why are you going _there_? That's never
been the location of our site?"

2. This was brought to the Web Team's attention right around the
evening before I went to Europe in August, so I said at the time that I
expected the _other_ members of the Web Team would take corrective
action. I suggested tarring up the html tree on the discontinued host,
and putting a redirection index.html page there saying "Hey, you're at
the wrong machine. This was never where our site was!"

Unfortunately, my fellow Web Team members have let me down, these past
several months. Nobody's lifted a finger to fix the problem, each of
the several times someone has written to advise us of the so-called
"outdated content".

I'm disappointed in this. Seems like I've been kind of abandoned.

Anyway, I've just now put a redirection page telling people visiting
"http://svlug.org/" that it's never been our Web site, and taking them
10 seconds later to where they should have gone in the first place.
